Frequently Asked Questions

Vehicle Types & Shipping Options

What types of vehicles do you ship?

We ship all types of vehicles purchased from U.S. auctions, dealerships, or private sellers - including cars, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans, motorcycles, and specialty equipment.

Do you ship to different countries?

Yes, we ship worldwide using FCL (Full Container Load) shipping to all destinations, and LCL (Less-than-Container Load / consolidated) service is available on many of our major routes. Contact us to confirm availability for your destination.

What's the difference between FCL and LCL shipping?

FCL means your vehicle occupies an entire container exclusively, while LCL means your vehicle shares container space with other customers’ vehicles headed to the same destination.

Registration & Quoting

How do I register to ship my vehicle(s)?

Simply email our Customer Service team at cservice@w8shipping.com with your vehicle details and destination. We’ll set up your W8 account and guide you through the process.

Are there any hidden fees I should be aware of?

No, we provide transparent pricing. Any additional costs if applicable will be explained before shipment whenever possible.

How can I get a shipping quote?

Request a free quote by emailing cservice@w8shipping.com with your vehicle make, model, year, pick-up location, destination country, and any special requirements.

Loading & Consolidation

Can you load my car or equipment if it has special dimensions or weight?

Yes, our expert loading team handles oversized, lowered, lifted, and non-running vehicles. We confirm measurements and ensure the unit fits safely within the container. If a container isn't the best fit, we offer alternative solutions like RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off), Open-Top container or Flat Rack container.

Do I have to fill an entire container if I only have one car?

No, if you have a single vehicle, our shared container (LCL) service is a cost-efficient alternative to booking an entire container.

Do I need to find other clients to fill a container?

No, we handle all container consolidation. You only need to ship your vehicle; we take care of the rest.

How will my vehicle be secured inside the container?

All vehicles are professionally positioned, and strapped to ensure safe transit.

Pick-Up & Logistics

Do you handle transport from the auction to the port?

Yes, we arrange complete logistics from the auction or seller’s location in the U.S. to the destination port overseas. At the destination, door-to-door delivery may also be available through our Authorized Brokers.

Do you ship non-running or damaged vehicles?

Yes, we ship non-running, damaged, or salvage vehicles purchased from auctions. Tow truck or forklift loading can be arranged depending on the vehicle’s condition and the auction’s capabilities.

Can you pick up my car from an auction or another location?

Absolutely. We pick up from most U.S. auctions (such as Copart, IAAI, Manheim), dealerships, or private locations.

Do you guarantee pick-up time? What if the auction charges storage?

We always strive to arrange pick-up within our standard timeframe, but delays can happen due to the factors like weather, paperwork, or operational issues. If a delay occurs on our side, we review storage fees accordingly. When service disruptions are expected, we notify clients in advance.

Can you ship brand-new vehicles?

Yes, we can assist with vehicles of any age as long as they are eligible for export. Please note that many dealerships have policies regarding the release of brand-new vehicles to third-party logistics providers, so it is important to confirm with your dealer before arranging pickup.

Transit & Arrival

How long does shipping take?

Transit times vary by destination, shipping line schedules, and port congestion. We provide estimated timelines when booking and keep you updated throughout the journey.

Can I track my shipment online?

Yes, from the moment your vehicle is added to your account, you can view its status and progress through your W8 account.

What happens if the container arrives later than estimated?

Transit dates are always subject to change due to factors such as port congestion, weather, or carrier schedule adjustments. If delays occur, we will keep you informed with the latest updates provided by the shipping line and continue to monitor the shipment until it arrives at the destination port.

What happens after my car arrives at the destination port?

Upon arrival, you or your clearing agent will handle customs clearance, port fees, and final delivery to your address if needed.

How do I receive my documents after arrival?

Your Bill of Lading, release documents, and other documents will be available in your W8 account for easy access and download.

Accounts, Documents & Compliance

What documents are required to start?

You’ll need a copy of your passport/ID, business registration documents if registering as a company, and a completed registration form. Additional supporting documents may be requested where applicable.

I opened an account, what happens next?

You’ll receive an account activation email. Once activated, you can view your vehicles, track shipment status, access invoices and documents, and message our team directly through the platform.

I’m a company owner, why can’t I pay from my personal account?

For security and compliance reasons, payments must come from the same entity registered on the account. If your account is set up as a business, all payments must be made from that business.

What auction access do you offer?

We provide access to major U.S. auction platforms, including Copart, IAAI, Manheim, and other nationwide auctions.

Why do I need an FEIN if I already have an SSN?

U.S. Customs requires an Employer Identification Number (EIN/FEIN) for vehicle exports. SSNs are no longer accepted for export filings in the Automated Export System (AES). This rule applied to both businesses and individuals exporting vehicles. The EIN is used strictly for customs identification and export compliance.

How do I get an EIN?

You can obtain an EIN free of charge through the IRS website. The application takes only a few minutes, and the number is issued immediately: https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/get-an-employer-identification-number. Instructions are found here: https://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/regulations/trb_obtaining_an_ein.pdf.

What documents do I need to export a vehicle?

You'll need proof of ownership (such as the original vehicle title), a lien release letter if applicable, and a Letter of Authorization or Power of Attorney.

Can you ship my vehicle without the original title?

No, U.S. Customs requires the original vehicle title for export clearance. Copies, scans, or digital versions are not accepted.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept bank transfers. All required banking details are listed on your invoice in your W8 account.

Partnership & Additional Services

I want to become your partner or representative, what are the requirements?
